Aussie Families Need Lifestyle Change

Now that the new year 2010 is here, shouldn’t people start to improve their lifestyle? Should we start a positive change not only for ourselves but our families as well? For example, those who had incurred much debt last year may need to commit themselves to settling what they owe. Attitude matters especially when it concerns managing the family’s finances.

Financial experts are actually seeing a change of lifestyle for many families in Australia under the ETS program. ETS stands for the Emissions Trading Scheme, a national program in Australia aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions by offering economic incentives to people such as the most common cap and trade. This cap and trade will take effect this 2010 to meet the country’s target of 60 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050. However, government payments remain the same and a tax cut is also carried out.

A lifestyle change is very possible, according to the experts if the people want to stay away from financial troubles. Lifestyle changes are crucial even in families where both parents are working. Figures from the Bureau of Statistics showed that in year 2000, some 640,000 families involved a dad working full time and a mother as a part time worker.

Furthermore, latest data from the Treasury Department showed that for families with both parents working, their cost of living is likely to go up in the first two years of implementation of the ETS.

It’s worthy to note that some families have already started taking steps towards contributing to the ETS program. Some homes have requested for a Green Project energy audit to determine the ways they can cut costs in their electricity and gas consumption. As they consistently become conscious of their energy consumption, these people are on their way to saving more money into the future.

So take it from those who have already taken concrete action. If those families can do it, the others can follow suit. Wouldn’t you want to contribute to efforts to save the environment? Where else should you start but in your own homes? Right.

Hopefully, people will also develop the right attitude when it comes to handling their finances. Debt is a negative in life and so if you’re one of those still worrying about this, it’s time to act now and settle your money matters.
